What is Trichology?

Trichology is the science and the study of the structure of the hair and the scalp. The word is derived from the ancient Greek word Trikhos. Trichologists diagnose and treat disorders of the hair and the scalp. We use a systematic process of elimination.

Trichology is not a complementary therapy or an alternative medicine as treatments and diagnostic approaches are similar to those of orthodox medicine. We are not medically qualified, but we have received some medical training. 

Some conditions are not curable but can be controlled with active ingredients in trichological formulations. Some may need to be referred to the GP, for blood tests or to specialists.

Booking your consultation at our hair loss & scalp clinic in Canterbury

Consultations are available in Canterbury for patients with hair and scalp disorders. They can last for up to 1 hour and consist of an in-depth discussion regarding your concerns where you will be asked about your medical and family history, diet, lifestyle and your hair and scalp will be examined to reach a diagnosis. 

Treatment plans can be made to manage disorders and conditions. Referrals may be made for blood tests or to examine further.
